Adidas Unveiled The Uniforms for The Athletes of The NBA

The German-based international sportswear brand Adidas has recently unveiled the uniforms for the athletes of the American professional basketball league National Basketball Association (NBA).

The label, which is the official outfitter for the esteemed association, has showcased the on-court apparels for the upcoming 64th edition NBA All-Star Game, slated to take place on February 15, 2015 in New York City.

Celebrating NYC’s legacy as the Mecca of sports, music and fashion, the clean, timeless jerseys are inspired by classic sports uniforms and the city’s early 20th century basketball teams.

Chris Grancio, the global basketball general manager of Adidas, said in a statement, “The NBA All-Star Game is a celebration of the host city and basketball culture, and this year we created our most detailed and sophisticated uniforms to date that pay homage to New York and All-Star weekend.

“We took inspiration from all five boroughs, in addition to the rich basketball and cultural heritage of the city, to provide a memorable collection for players and fans,” he adds.

The uniforms feature a side panel of five stars, each representing NYC’s five boroughs with unique patterns such as Queens (a pattern inspired by the stainless steel orbit rings of the borough’s iconic Unisphere which was built for the 1964 World’s Fair at Flushing Meadows – Corona Park).

The wavy Staten Island pattern signifies the island’s surrounding waters. The taxi-cab checkered pattern ‘Manhattan’ showcases the pace and energy of the world’s most cosmopolitan city. The Bronx is represented through a vinyl record pattern that pays homage to the birthplace of hip-hop and the rich musical legacy of NYC. The brick pattern stands for iconic brownstone houses and buildings of the city’s most populous borough, Brooklyn.

Replete with Herringbone detail on the patch and jock tags, the Eastern Conference NBA All-Star uniform is accentuated with black name lettering and blue numbers and the Western Conference uniforms feature white name lettering and red numbers.

The All-Stars will wear black, gray and white fitted warm-ups enhanced with satin accents and military-style star patches to celebrate the number of NBA All-Star appearances for each player. The player’s jacket will be customized with patches to represent the game’s top individual accolades including NBA Most Valuable Player, NBA Rookie of the Year, NBA All-Star Game MVP and NBA Championships. The on-court warm-ups also include a three-quarter-sleeve shooting shirt and tapered pants.

Scheduled to be available on NBAStore.com and NBA Store on Fifth Avenue from January, 2015, the offering for the fans will include NBA All-Star jerseys, adult and youth t-shirts, track jackets and headwear. Select NBA All-Star merchandise will also be available internationally on NBAStore.eu, NBAStore.cn, NBA.JD.com and LojaNBA.com.
