The Official Samsung Blog Announces The Arrival of The Samsung Galaxy A7

Samsung has finally taken the wraps off the Samsung Galaxy A7, the largest yet slimmest smartphone in the range.

The electronics giant announced the first two phones in its new mid-range A category, the Samsung Galaxy A3 and Samsung Galaxy A5, back in October. It's taken a little longer for the super-sized option to appear.

Now Samsung Tomorrow, the official Samsung blog, has announced the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy A7.

While the Samsung Galaxy A5 sports a 5-inch display and the A3 a 4.5-inch display, the new Samsung Galaxy A7 comes with a 5.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED screen.

Also notable is the Galaxy A7's super-slim 6.3-inch body, which features the metal rim that has come to typify the A range. Besides being slim and solid, the A7's body is also relatively light at 141g.

There are two variants of the Samsung Galaxy A7 - an LTE version and a dual-SIM version. The phone's processor will vary according to these configurations.

The LTE version, which is the one that will see release in developed countries, will ship with a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 CPU.  The dual-SIM model for developing territories will come with an Exynos 5430 chip. Both have an octa-core setup for greater power efficiency.

Otherwise, the specs are similar for both variants. You get 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD slot for expansion purposes, and a 2,600mAh battery.

The rear camera is a 13-megapixel unit, which the front-facing selfie cam comes in at a more-than-respectable 5-megapixels.

There's no news on release dates just yet, but Samsung does promise a "competitive price point" when the Galaxy A7 launches.
