German Textile Industry Will Hold Foreign Trade Day on March 3

The German ministry of economics and energy, in cooperation with the Confederation of the German textile and fashion industry, is organising a ‘Foreign Trade Day of the German Textile and Fashion Industry’ in Berlin on 3 March, 2015.

At the full-day event, representatives from associations, industry and public administration will discuss current industrial challenges in global supply chains as well as the potentials and risks of emerging export markets abroad.

German minister of economics and energy Sigmar Gabriel and president of the confederation of the German textile and fashion industry Ingeborg Neumann will deliver opening speeches, spokesperson of the confederation said in a statement.

Current issues related to international trade as well as best-practice strategies, in conjunction with the successful entering of new markets will be shared by experts in various discussion panels.

The event, to be held in German language, will give companies the opportunity to meet representatives from the business and political sphere, including the European Commission and the European Parliament.

Germany is one of the largest high-quality clothing and home textiles producer in Europe. It is also the world leader in technical textiles and an important supplier to numerous other industrial sectors, such as the automotive, aircraft, construction and medical industries.

Employing about 120,000 people, the German textile and apparel industry has a turnover of €28 billion, according to the confederation.
