Producer Confirmation on The Settlement Was Unavailable

The June US butadiene contract price settled down 2-3 cents/lb from May at a 65-76 cents/lb ($1,433-$1,675/mt) split, sources said Monday.

TPC Group, Shell Chemicals and LyondellBasell each were 3 cents lower than May at 65 cents/lb, while ExxonMobil dropped 2 cents from May at 76 cents/lb, sources said.

Producer confirmation on the settlement was unavailable.

The settlements are void of any discounts or adders that producers might include, sources said.

The settlement fell within expectations for June contracts, which had been for a rollover to down as much as 3 cents/lb from May, based on falling spot butadiene prices as well as a supply situation that was improving.

US spot butadiene was last assessed at 72 cents/lb CIF US Gulf Coast Friday.

The May US butadiene contract price settled at a 68-78 cents/lb ($1,499-$1,720/mt) split settlement, with LyondellBasell, Shell Chemicals and TPC Group at 68 cents/lb and ExxonMobil at 78 cents/lb, sources said. The settlement was void of any discounts or adders that producers might include, sources said.
