The second half of the year is really starting to gain momentum for John Lewis, with a change in the weather this week driving a great week's trade, 13% ahead of last year.

Online continued to trade strongly, growing a percentage share of trade following a 40% uplift from in-store Partner Assisted Customer Transactions.

All directorates performed well ahead of last year, with Home leading the way, up 18.9%.

John Lewis' customers are said to be feeling increasingly confident in the housing market, with Furniture performance continuing to be the most impressive. Its forward orders are also up 20%, suggesting that hopefully that this trend will continue.

There was a host of great shop performances last week, which continue to be topped by High Wycombe. Newbury, Chichester, Stratford City and Norwich were all also in the 20% gain club.

With the bank holiday approaching and the 'good retailing weather' set to continue, John Lewis is optimistic for another strong week.
