I-Sub Digital Released New Packaging and Labelling System Market Setback in UK

UK-based printing technology provider i-Sub Digital has unveiled its new Digi-Foil digital foiling system for packaging and label markets.

According to the company, the equipment allows creation of colour-accurate mock-ups, short runs and one-offs for proofing in a short span of time using a combination of a Mimaki UJF desktop printer, foil and a heated applicator.

The new digital foiling system is claimed to offer several options with new designs to packaging manufacturers.

i-Sub Digital's Digi-Foil is helpful in reducing waste as it allows foil to be applied only in required areas - as small as 4pt text or a dot size of 0.3mm, said the company.

With the system, packaging manufacturers can have design effects such as metallic, holographic, multi-coloured, opaque, patterned and foil embossed for security marking.

i-Sub Digital director Andy Spreag said before the launch of the Digi-Foil, cutting out pieces of coloured vinyl was used to be done on a mock-up but it was a time-consuming and imprecise method.

"Here, we are creating mock-ups that are the exact replica of the finished product which means it's much easier to choose packaging colours," added Spreag.

"With the suggestion we are coming out of the recession years, luxury is back on the agenda. Metallics are light-catching and eye-catching - regardless of where on a shelf the packaging is - giving products greater impact."

"We are really proud of developing the Digi-Foil system and what it can do for the packaging and label markets: it can cut days or weeks off the prototyping process."
