Vetter to Introduce a Flexible Serialization Service for Track-and-Trace Programs

Contract development and manufacturing company Vetter is set to introduce a flexible serialization service for track-and-trace programs.

The move is aimed at enabling manufacturers to meet the expanded requirements by official regulatory agencies to have clear identification of drugs on packaging.

At present, the company is implementing its new solution for product packaging that supports the prevention of product counterfeiting.

Following this, Vetter also started implementing an engineering platform for serialization, which will become operational by the end of 2014.

The main focus of this service is to enable pharmaceutical and biotech companies in implementing their own track-and-trace programs for a secured and controlled supply chain.

Vetter managing director Thomas Otto said that its new service will support increasing customer and regulatory demands in the area of track-and-trace.

"Our serialization service will enable that packages include unique identification necessary to support product security and supply chain efficiency," Otto added.

The company is also expanding its portfolio of existing services including the printing of Global Trade Item Numbers (GTIN) on packages.
