The Covered California health insurance exchange has accepted Health Net Life Insurance’s bid to provide healthcare coverage to eligible small businesses for all 58 counties in the state.
Health Net Life Insurance is a wholly owned subsidiary of Health Net of California.
In May 2013, Covered California said that Health Net of California and Health Net Life will offer health maintenance organisation (HMO) and preferred provider organisation (PPO) plans respectively, in the state's individual health insurance exchange.
Health Net president of western region health plan Steve Sell said that the company is excited to be part of the Covered California small business exchange.
"We expect our small business offerings in Covered California can provide an additional way for employers to find health insurance coverage that fits their unique needs," Sell added.
Covered California expects to begin enrollment of beneficiaries in October 2013 for individual and small business coverage, while the coverage will be effective from 1 January 2014.
