GET Not to Expand in-House Solar-Grade Crystalline Silicon Wafer Production Capacity

Green Energy Technology (GET) has no plans to expand in-house solar-grade crystalline silicon wafer production capacity, company president Swean Lin said at an October 14 press conference for the upcoming PV Taiwan 2014 exhibition.

GET has seen increasing demand from China due to a rush to install rooftop PV systems in the fourth quarter, Lin said. Consequently, solar wafer pricing has rebounded 1% since the beginning of October and are expected to rise further, Lin indicated.

At the press conference, Neo Solar Power CFO Thomas Hsu said the crystalline silicon solar cell maker plans to set up an overseas factory to minimize the negative impact from US imposition of anti-dumping tariff rates. Neo Solar is evaluating five candidate locations for setting up the factory and will make a final decision in 3-6 months, Hsu indicated.

The PV show takes place in Taipei from October 22-24.
