German Luxury-Car Maker BMW Is Recalling Nearly 2,907 of Its Vehicles in China Over Steeri

German luxury-car maker BMW is recalling nearly 2,907 of its vehicles in China over steering control system issue.

According to the carmaker, the recall will affect about 2,712 3-Series models and 114 X1 vehicles manufactured in China during November 2010 and February 2012 as well as 195 imported Z4 models produced in late 2011.

The affected vehicles will face the malfunctioning of steering control system which may prevent the power steering system from initialising accurately and will alert the driver through an error when the warning light on the dashboard activates.

China General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said that the vehicles will be recalled beginning 15 August 2012 and BMW's Chinese JV will offer free replacements for the problematic parts.
