Midland Regional Printers to Install Easymatrix Die-Cutter at Nottingham Plant

Midland Regional Printers will install Easymatrix to increase its die-cutting capacity at its Nottingham facility in the UK.

The die-cutter is a 7,700 sph machine which can handle stocks of 90 to 2,000gsm (and corrugated up to 4mm thickness) and in formats from 400 x 360mm to 1060 x 760mm.

Easymatrix is an automated model that cut downs the amount of wastage by its stripping station to increase the efficiency.

Midland Regional Printers Sales and marketing director Kate Tew said: “We recently installed a Speedmaster XL 106-6+L to operate alongside a similarly specified Speedmaster CD 102 so we needed to invest in the die-cutting area to keep up with the increased throughput.

“The Easymatrix will handle a wide range of work including toy, pet, beauty and pharmaceutical packaging.”

Kate further added: “This is a machine that will give us significantly shorter make-readies, a faster mechanical speed and increased overall output and it marries up well with our presses with its similarly styled control panel.”

The Sanwa die-cutter is already being used by Midland for a single shift. The company plans to use Easymatrix on two shifts with an intention to utilize it in three shifts in the future.

Heidelberg UK product specialist Paul Thompson said: “We see this as a very versatile and affordable model which suits a range of applications including packaging, greetings cards and POS.”

The company said that it is anticipating the machine will bring new sales opportunities.

Apart from packaging Midland offers product design, commercial print, self-adhesive labels and in-house finishing with storage and distribution options.
