WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Independent retailers can attract consumers who want to shop online and on mobile devices, according to Nationwide Marketing Group.

The buying and marketing group for furniture, appliance, electronics and other products says its Web Services Team has developed ways to help its members reach consumers in the online world.

To reach smartphone users, Nationwide says it helps retailers build a limited functionality mobile website that serves as an immediate redirection when consumers visit the site on their devices. The interface is user-friendly and contains only the necessary information.

Consumers can easily get directions to the store and call the store, which provides more opportunity for retailers to increase foot traffic and interest in their business, the group said.

Tablet computer users, meanwhile, will engage in product research online. Nationwide says it helps its retailers expand their store information and product specs to be featured on many of the shopping apps used on tablets. That way, consumers using the apps won't miss the retailers and their inventory.

"By arming our members with the appropriate tools to be prevalent in online searches and in the app world, we continue to find ways to help them succeed with changing consumer trends," said Frank Sandtner, vice president of member services operations for Nationwide Marketing Group.

More information about the member services will be available at Nationwide's next PrimeTime show, March 3-6 in Las Vegas.
