A teaser image of the Toyota i-Road concept has been released ahead of the compact city car’s 2013 Geneva motor show debut in March.

The bird’s-eye view shot reveals the basic design of the 1+1 prototype, which Toyota describes as a “compact, fun and emissions-free personal mobility concept designed to offer quick and efficient urban transport for two people”.

The Toyota i-Road concept features slim front wheels mounted outside the narrow main body, which swells at the rear to accommodate a passenger behind the driver.

More details of the i-Road, including the specifics of its electric propulsion system, will be revealed in Geneva on March 5, where it is destined to play second fiddle to the highly anticipated world premiere of the Toyota 86 convertible concept.

The production version of the new Toyota Corolla wagon (above) will also make its international debut in Geneva following the unveiling of a concept at last September’s Paris motor show.

Launching in Europe later this year badged as the Auris Touring Sports, Toyota Australia has no plans to offer the larger and more versatile UK-built wagon variant in our market in the short-term future.
