OnePlus Reveales It Has Sold Over One Million Smartphone Units in 2014 Alone

OnePlus Reveals One Million Smartphones Sold Last Year

Fledgling smartphone firm OnePlus has revealed it has sold over one million smartphone units in 2014 alone.

That’s not bad, considering the firm has but a single stock-keeping unit - the OnePlus One.

It’s even more impressive when you consider that back in November, the company had managed to sell just over half a million since going on sale in June last year.

The new sales figures were revealed to PCWorld by Carl Pei, OnePlus’ Global Director.

Carl Pei, Global Director at OnePlus, revealed the new sales figures to PCWorld, and promised to ‘keep using the invite system’ to control risk for future product cycles.

He’s referring to the invite-only purchase system for the OnePlus One, infamous for leaving many would-be customers unable to purchase the smartphone due to a dearth of circulating invitations.

Pei also revealed that OnePlus was surprised by the big interest in the One handset in the west.

“We basically weren’t prepared for what happened,” said the OnePlus boss. “We thought that all our demand would be in China the first year.”

The OnePlus One bagged online fame for its solid spec sheet and comparatively low price tag.

For £269, OnePlus sells a smartphone that touts 3GB of RAM, a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, a 1080p 5.5-inch display, and 64GB of built-in storage.
