An Underground Sewer Lair Was Created in London Recently to Celebrate The Launch

An underground sewer lair was created in London recently to celebrate the launch of the next generation of popular children's series.

Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP) invited over 350 guests to Shoreditch, London to announce their plans for well-known characters; Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles including films, toys, apps and programmes.

To stage the launch, event production and audio-visual specialists, Anagram was tasked to create an environment that would replicate the underground sewer lair the Turtles inhabit in the series including a giant concrete sewer pipe stage. This included a projection onto one of the venue's external walls to enable LA-based artist, David Flores to paint a 120m² mural of the Turtles. Inside the venue, Anagram provided all AV support, sound system, LX and video projection together with the concrete sewer pipe stage and piazza bar.

Using the first eight head Avolites Ai media server combined with three HD10k Christie M series projectors, Anagram projected images of the cartoon characters onto the walls surrounding the stage. In addition, a feed was sent from the Ai to all the HD plasmas within the room and using the server's projection mapping capabilities, the entire system was controlled by Russ Grubiak from a lighting desk.

Peter Harding, managing director at Anagram said, "The NVCP Turtles launch preview was a prestigious event for the team. Not only did we get to showcase our projection mapping skills on an international level but we were also proud to have the first use of the state-of-the-art Avolites Ai media server. Plus working to create such an iconic childhood image was great fun, proving we're all kids at heart!"

Selvin Cooper, Ai service and support engineer, Avolites Media added, "This was a great event to be involved in. Anagram used the video mapping capabilities of the Ai media server to great effect, recreating the look of the sewer lair across a large video canvas. The team took the various technical challenges in their stride and we look forward to collaborating with Anagram on future projects. Cowabunga dudes!"

Anagram delivered the NVCP Turtles launch in partnership with BJA Design.
