In December Last Year,India's Industrial Production Decreased by 0.6% Year on Year

In December last year, India's industrial production decreased by 0.6 percent year on year, according to government data. Industrial production in the April-December period of the current financial year declined by 0.1 percent year on year.

Production in India's manufacturing sector decreased by 1.6 percent in December compared to the same month of the previous year, while in the April-December period the Indian manufacturing sector saw a 0.6 percent year-on-year drop in output.

The industrial output index in India's basic metal sector in December last year increased by 0.6 percent compared to December 2012, while the output index for fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, fell by 4.8 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the April-December period the output index for basic metals fell by 1.4 percent, while the output index for fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, declined by 7.2 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

On the other hand, the output of the industry segment of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers declined by 16.1 percent year on year in December.
