After Opening in Scottsdale, Wild Knight Became One of The City's Hottest Nightclubs

After opening in Scottsdale, AZ's Old Town section in June 2011, Wild Knight quickly became one of the city's hottest nightclubs, thanks to an all-star lineup of electronic music DJs from around the world. Along with beats from such EDM icons as Zedd, Thomas Gold, Skrillex, and John Digweed, the 4,000sq.ft club offered a sophisticated interior décor, bottle service amenities, and an advanced sound and lighting system. Yet, despite this overnight success, Wild Knight's owners felt that some much-needed energy was missing from the club.

After considering many different options, they decided that the solution would be to supplement the DJ booth with an LED video screen display. They felt the addition of a video wall would enhance and intensify the performance of the featured act, adding a powerful visual element that would serve as a commanding focal point in the club.

This design strategy was carried out by Dorel Baila of LED Source, LLC who installed a 9.6' wide by 6.4' high LED display behind the DJ booth. To create the screen, Baila used EPV762 high-resolution LED video panels from Elation Professional, supplied by Freed Sales, Inc. (North Miami, FL).

The video screen installed at Wild Knight consists of a total of 24 EPV762 panels assembled in a 6 x 4 configuration (one additional unit was purchased by the club as a spare). Easy to hang and rig, the panels have a slim cabinet design and seamless mechanical system, with Ethercon in/out for video signal, Powercon in/out for power link, and a built-in 100-240v PSU. Built to the highest quality and safety standards, the panels are cETLus approved.

For all their stunning brightness, high-resolution images and professional features, the EPV762 panels are surprisingly economically priced, Baila noted. This value-driven pricing was a big factor in the club's decision to go with the Elation product. "The club owners were very close to a 12mm LED video display purchase from a competing manufacturer, but I was able to offer them an Elation 7mm system at virtually the same cost," said Baila.

Now the visual centrepiece of Wild Knight, the versatile LED display is being used for a variety of functions. During shows, it typically features custom content supplied by the touring DJs performing each evening, which often includes the DJ's logo and their signature visual imagery. The club also uses the screen to advertise upcoming events, featured acts and promotions.
