FIPA Launches Quick-Change Systems with Safe-Lock

FIPA, a Germany-based vacuum technology and end-of-arm tooling solutions company, has expanded its product portfolio with the introduction of quick-change systems with Safe-Lock.

The company has developed the new Safe-Lock system to prevent the accidental release of lock to ensure stable connection between robots and gripper systems when changing grippers.

The existing quick-change systems are operated using a hand lever to engage the locking mechanism. But with large and heavy end-of-arm-tooling, the locking mechanism may be released due to vibrations, disconnecting the robot side from the gripper side.

The disconnection of robot and gripper will result in process disruption and damage during operation.

Thus, FIPA's quick-change systems with patented Safe-Lock system have been designed to offer maximum process safety when changing grippers, the company said.

The quick-change systems with Safe-Lock provides up to ten compressed air or vacuum connectors to connect grippers or suction cups.

This technology further improves process safety with visual locking indication.

FIPA said that this technology reduces downtime and damage which may be caused by unintentional release of the gripper, thus increasing the efficiency of the overall system with maximum functional reliability.
