Peugeot Australia Has Priced The Peugeot 5008 From $36,990, for a Version Powered

The Peugeot 5008 seven-seater has gone on sale in Australia, though the French car maker insists it’s a wagon rather than a people-mover.

Body style debates aside, the 5008 is new locally but has been on sale in Europe since 2009.

Peugeot Australia has priced the Peugeot 5008 from $36,990, for a version powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder with 115kW and 240Nm.

The alternative engine is a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel with 120kW and 340Nm, priced from $40,490.

The petrol officially uses 7.6 litres of fuel per 100km and emits 175 grams of carbon dioxide (CO2) per kilometre compared with figures of 6.3L/100km and 164g/km.

Other important areas for vehicles like the Peugeot 5008 are seat flexibility and cargo space.

The second row comprises three individual seats that can be moved fore/aft, reclined, and can each folded into the floor to create a vast maximum cargo space of 2506 litres.

The two rear seats of the third row also fold neatly into the cargo floor.

Boot space with all seats in place ranges between 758 and 823 litres depending on the positioning of the third row seatbacks – and up to 1247L if the parcel shelf is removed and contents loaded to the roof.

The front passenger seat also folds to create a loading length of 2.76 metres.

Rear air vents aid comfort for second-row passengers, and curtain airbags cover all three rows.

The Peugeot 5008 is claimed to offer generous cabin space for all passengers.

Standard features for both Peugeot 5008 models include 17-inch alloy wheels, rear view camera and sensors, electric park brake, retractable blinds in second and third rows, 7-inch retractable colour satellite navigation, dual-zone climate control, boot torch, and two 7-inch multimedia screens in the second row.

The Peugeot 5008 will face off against rivals that include the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso (from $39,490), Honda Odyssey (from $37,100), Hyundai iMax (from $37,290), and Kia Grand Carnival (from $38,990).
