Vitrum 2013 Opens on October 23-26, 2013 in Milan

Vitrum 2013 opens today-the 18th International Trade Show specialized in Machinery, Equipment and Systems for Flat and Hollow Glass, Glass and Finished Products for Industry-attracting the sector's biggest players to Milan October 23-26, 2013.

Every two years Milan becomes the international crossroads of high technology applied to glass; a specialized showcase for the latest innovations in the artistic, industrial and technological areas of glass production

Over the years, Vitrum has become the leading international event in Italy dedicated to this particular niche market, with a growing number of domestic and, above all, international visitors, drawn by the technologies on display.

One feature of the event (where visitors come to interact with top international manufacturers and suppliers) is the presentation of cutting edge technologies alongside unique expressions of Italy's glassmaking tradition, which had its roots in the workshops of craftsmen in Imperial Rome or the Venetian Republic of the Doges.

About 20,000 sq. m of net exhibit area, 70% of which is occupied by Italian businesses, will host 349 exhibitors from 28 different countries (a slight drop in numbers compared to the previous edition) but, as always, the industry's big players are participating in Vitrum. To date, the primary countries of origin include Italy, China, and Germany, followed by Spain and the UK.

A large area is reserved for Italian technologies and is expected to draw a huge international crowd (more than 20,000 attended the previous show) where the most innovative proposals surrounding the many applications of flat glass, sophisticated technologies in the areas of industrial glass, architectural glass, and glass for home furnishings will be on display.

Special focus will also be placed on energy-saving technologies and the use of renewable energy in the Vitrum Energy section, packed with opportunities to see how glass plays a starring role in the green economy.

Of course, there will also be a special event at the 2013 Vitrum show. Visitors will be able to get an up close and personal look, along a guided pathway, at an exhibit of both historic and recently-launched models from Alfa Romeo, auto maker and symbol of Made in Italy, known and appreciated around the world, and a splendid example of Italy's creative and technological abilities.
