Second and third prizes also went to Nottingham Trent University students Craig Foster and Stephanie Casse respectively.

Organised by the Lighting Industry Association, the awards aim to allow students to gain valuable knowledge about the lighting industry while using their creative skills to develop new lighting products.

Commenting on the winners Simon Terry, judge and innovation director at Anglepoise said: "Inspiring designs and any of the top three could have easily landed the top spot. Great to spend time with young people with a creative instinct on the one hand and a clear respect for materials and processes on the other. I am sure that they will go on to great things."
