A Family of K37 Punnets, The K37-50, 60 and 70mm for Soft Fruit Packaging Were Developed

Rigid plastic packaging supplier in Ireland, Holfeld Plastics has unveiled a family of K37 punnets, the K37-50, 60 and 70mm for soft fruit packaging, which join the K37-40 and K37-85 portfolio.

The standard crate fit K37 family has been manufactured from r-PET with at least 85% recyclate in the blend, and the portfolio is designed with a rib design for visibility of the soft fruit as well as in-transit protection.

Holfeld Plastics operations director Frank Coleman said the recycled material used in the manufacture goes through the company's factory food grade 'superclean' system.

"By using recycled PET in our production much less energy is required significantly reducing our carbon emissions. The inclusion of 85% post consumer recyclate in our punnets has resulted in a 54% reduction in the carbon footprint of our products," Coleman said.

Sloping vents in the base allow the soft fruit to breathe even when the punnets are in transit from packhouse to retailer, reduce in pack condensation and improve the soft fruit's shelf life.

Modified lips of the packaging allow for heat sealed or lidded options. Up to 28 colors are available to select from in the standard range, the company said.
