Corning Has Revealed That They Plan to Show off Their New Gorilla Glass 3 Technology

Corning, the makers of the ape-like Gorilla Glass for phones and other devices, has revealed that they plan to show off their new Gorilla Glass 3 technology at next week's CES.

Gorilla Glass 3 is supposed to be three times more scratch resistant, have 40 percent less visible scratches and a 50 percent increase in retaining strength after the glass becomes damaged. These improvements by Corning were made possible through a treatment called "Native Damage Resistance" that provides a molecularly tougher glass.

While improvements like the ones found in GG3 aren't dramatic enough to help protect your phone from high-up drops, it will make a significant difference in more minor situations, like how scratched the glass could get from keys in your pocket. Corning will do a full demonstration of the new tech next week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Gorilla Glass is a highly popular form of technology used by various tech companies in their products. It can be found in Samsung Galaxy phones, Microsoft Surface tablets, Lenovo laptops, Sony Bravia TVs and plenty more.
