Pet Plant Will Be Built for JBF by Uhde Inventa-Fischer

Indian producer of polyester granules, JBF Industries has awarded a contract to plant engineering and construction company Uhde Inventa-Fischer to build a PET plant in Geel, Belgium.

The plant will have an annual total name plate capacity of 432,000t and will produce PET for bottling and packaging applications. BP Chembel will produce feedstock terephthalic acid on the same site.

According to Uhde Inventa-Fischer, the plant will be based on the company's energy-efficient Melt-To-Resin (MTR) technology and will allow JBF to produce PET pellets.

The cost-intensive solid-state post condensation (SSP) process will be replaced by MTR process, thus attaining lower operating and maintenance costs and a reduced CO2 balance with less investment costs.

Besides, 25% of the PTA required for the production of PET will be replaced with recycling material, by integrating a 54,000 ton-per-year Flakes-To-Resin (FTR) recycling line.

The FDA-approved FTR process certifies that the quality of the PET pellets produced is sufficient for food applications.

The supplies range by Uhde Inventa-Fischer includes the know-how licence for the MTR and FTR technologies, the basic and detail engineering, supply of all plant components and construction and commissioning activities supervision.
