Samuel Adams, a brand owned by Boston Beer Company, has launched the latest addition to the Rebel family of craft beer - Rebel Grapefruit IPA - in bottles and cans.
The US brand released the IPA back in November for consumers to taste the beverage. It was then released on draft.
The brand is now offering it in bottles and cans. It will be available year round.
Rebel Grapefruit IPA has been brewed with California-grown grapefruits - Star Ruby and Star Rio, which give a juicy citrus punch to palate. and are known for their thicker pee.
During the brewing process, the peel is added in the kettle so that the beer gets a tart, sharp taste.
Grapefruit juice is added before the beer is filtered in order to give a sweet juiciness to the drink and to round out the bitterness from the peel.
The grapefruit adds zing to the citrus and fruit notes of the four hop varieties, including Mosaic hops.
Besides Mosaic hops, three more hop varieties - Centennial, Cascade, Citra - have been added at different stages of the brewing process to give further hop flavor and aroma.
Samuel Adams brewer Seth Adams said: "We experimented with dozens of test batch IPAs in our nanobrewery with different combinations of hops and grapefruit, and love this marriage of citrus and bitterness.
"Rebel Grapefruit IPA showcases what we like most about American hops, and we're psyched that drinkers can now enjoy this juicy IPA at home and at their favorite bar."
Samuel Adams Rebel Grapefruit IPA is available in the US on draft, in six-packs of bottles for a suggested retail price of $7.99-$9.99, and in 16 oz. cans for a SRP of $1.99-$2.49.
Last February, Samuel Adams had expanded its Rebel IPA family range with the introduction of Rebel Rouser Double IPA and Rebel Rider Session IPA.
