New Passenger Car Registrations Contracted by One Percent Year on Year to 247,200 Units

In September this year, new passenger car registrations in the German market contracted by one percent year on year to 247,200 units, and were up 15.4 percent compared to August, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in the first nine months of this year Germany's new car registrations fell six percent year on year, totaling 2,217,000 units.

However, during September this year a total of 389,000 passenger cars were exported, up 15 percent compared to September 2012 and rising 32.3 percent month on month. In the first nine months of the year, German passenger car exports amounted to 3,140,200 units, remaining stable compared to the same period last year.

According to the VDA, in September 515,200 passenger cars rolled off production lines in Germany, which represents a year-on-year increase of 14 percent and a 30 percent increase from August. German car output in the first nine months of 2013 amounted to 4,093,300 units, showing no changes on year-on-year basis.
