Crown to Construct New Beverage Can Facility in Spain

Packaging products supplier Crown Holdings has unveiled plans to construct a new beverage can plant in Spain.

The new facility will be developed in the Valencia region for the manufacturing of aluminum beverage cans.

Crown has selected Parc Sagunta area for the new plant, which is around 10 miles north of the city of Valencia. The area is near to crucial customers and offers better infrastructure and transportation links.

Currently, the company runs two steel beverage can plants in Agoncillo and Seville in Spain.

Crown is developing the new facility to meet the demand from customers for aluminum beverage cans in the Iberian region.

Expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2018, the facility will initially produce around 900 million units in multiple sizes.

Crown will initially use the facility to facilitate customers' transitions from steel to aluminum beverage cans. Later, it will be expanded to manufacture both beer and non-alcoholic beverage cans in the region.

Crown Bevcan Europe and Middle East senior vice president Ziya Ozay said: "We are excited about the aluminum beverage can market growth in the Iberian region, and our new plant will be ideally located to supply the increasing requirements of a number of key customers and support our other facilities during the conversion from steel to aluminum."

In May this year, Crown opened its first beverage can manufacturing facility in Nichols, New York, US.

The new facility is located in Tioga County Industrial Park in Nichols and it produces two-piece aluminium cans in a range of sizes. The plant is expected to create about 160 new jobs by 2018.

Through its subsidiaries, Crown offers packaging products to consumer marketing companies across the globe.
