Razer Nabu Comes a Second Wearable Offering From The Razer--The Nabu X

Hot off the heels of the Razer Nabu – which technically only landed last month – comes a second wearable offering from the Razer – the Nabu X.

Rather than being poised as the successor to the Nabu, the Nabu X is instead an alternative targeting those looking for more budget-friendly wearables.

The Nabu X is landing for a mere $19.99 (£13) to ‘qualified fans’ on the Razer Insider forums, with actual retail units shipping for a slightly beefier $49.99 (£33).

The new smartband is due to go on sale on January 13, with shipping pegged for some time in spring.

The main difference between the Nabu X and the Nabu proper is the lack of OLED display. Everything else is mostly the same.

Min-Liang Tan, Razer’s CEO and co-founder, said: “The greatest barriers to entry for new technology are price and complexity, and we’ve eliminated both of those with the Razer Nabu X.”

“We’ve taken what makes the Nabu such a compelling wearable – discreet notifications, activity tracking and band-to-band communication – and incorporated them into the Nabu X.”

He added: “It’s the basic alternative to the Nabu that’s extremely affordable and simple to use.”

So what do you get from Razer for your pocket change? For starters, the Nabu X boasts an accelerometer that ensures ‘the most accurate activity data’ is captured.

There’s also a built-in vibration motor and three colour-customisable LEDs to handle notifications, with connectivity supported for both iOS and Android apps.

You can also detach the sensor module, which means you can choose from three different strap colours – black, white, or green.

In terms of ergonomics, the Nabu X is one-size-fits-all, touts water-resistant casing, and is designed to provide ‘absolute comfort’ for daily wear.
