The New Increase of Carton Recycling in US

The Carton Council of North America has announced that 45% of US households can now recycle cartons through their curbside recycling programs and other recycling venues.

The achivement represents an increase of 150% from 2009, when the council was formed and carton recycling access stood at just 18%.

According to the Carton Council of North America, 21 million US households had access to carton recycling in 26 states in 2009.

At present 52.5 million households in New York, Dallas, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Denver, San Diego, Louisville, Arlington and Los

Angeles can recycle cartons.

Tetra Pak North America environment and Carton Council of North America recycling projects vice president Jason Pelz said more communities are joining the board and establishing access for their residents to recycle cartons.

"Sixty-four of the 100 largest U.S. cities are part of the carton recycling movement and provide access to carton recycling to their residents," Pelz added.

Gold Coast of California and Republic Services of Ohio are the new facilities, which joined the board and accepted cartons.
