New Commercial Vehicle Registrations Grew by 11.1% Y-O-Y in The European Union

In March this year, new commercial vehicle registrations grew by 11.1 percent year on year in the European Union, totaling 185,520 units, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). The month counted on average the same number of working days across the region compared to the same month of the previous year. Looking at the major markets, Spain (+26.8 percent), Italy (+16.4 percent) and the UK (+11.0 percent) all posted double-digit increases, while Germany and France recorded 9.8 percent and 0.3 percent year-on-year rises in the given month, respectively.

In the first quarter of the current year, demand for new commercial vehicles in the EU was up 9.8 percent year on year, with 443,038 new registrations. Spain (+39.0 percent), Italy (+14.1 percent), Germany (+10.5 percent) and the UK (+10.4 percent) recorded increases in vehicle registrations compared to the first quarter last year, while France (-0.6 percent) saw its market contract on year-on-year basis.
