Unilever Thailand Will Invest Around THB8bn ($246m) in The Country

Unilever Thailand will invest around THB8bn ($246m) in the country to expand its operations over the next three years.

Of the total investment, around THB1.5bn ($46.1m) will be employed in the construction of an ice cream cold storage facility in Samut Prakan and around THB700m ($21.54m) will be spent in the expansion of its food processing plant in Chachoengsao's Gateway City Industrial Estate.

The remainder amount will be invested in the construction of headquarters and a warehouse in the country, as well as the expansion of a liquid-personal-care plant in Min Buri.

Unilever Thailand chairwoman Supattra Paopiamsap said: "Our three-year investment plan, which will run from this year until 2016, will stimulate economic growth and improve Thais' quality of life.

"With our extensive presence in the country, our growth is certain to help the overall market develop, which will in turn have a favourable economic impact on our customers, our business allies, the national economy and of course ultimately Unilever Thailand.

"The expansion will serve the potential growth of our domestic market and comply with the implementation of the Asean Economic Community next year."

Unilever will continue to invest in Thailand in order to improve its position as a global production hub and its third-largest manufacturing site in Asia.
