The EMerge Alliance Announces 21 New Members and 39 New Products for DC Power Applications

April 29, 2013 - The EMerge Alliance—an industry association helping to adopt safe direct-current (DC) power distribution standards for commercial buildings—has announced 21 new members and 39 new products for DC power applications. The announcement took place at Lightfair International 2013, one of the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting tradeshow and conference.

Now supported by more than 100 member organizations, EMerge Alliance strives to deliver greater electrical energy efficiency, flexibility and sustainability throughout buildings. The newest members to the association include:

• Eltek AS - Participating level
• Panduit - Participating level
• ValidusDC - Participating level
• ZBB Energy - Participating level
• Alpha Technologies - General level
• Carling Technologies - General level
• Lite-On Clean Energy Technology - General level
• Minebea - General level
• PhotoGlow - General level
• SL Power Electronics  - General level
• Echola Systems - Supporting level
• Engineering Services of Vermont - Supporting level
• Lighting Energy Depot - Supporting level
• People Power - Supporting level
• Strategic Energy Solutions - Supporting level
• VP Energy - Supporting level
• Korea Testing Laboratory - Corresponding level
• Pika Energy - Corresponding level
• SCTE - Corresponding level
• sg++ smart grid computing - Corresponding level
• Passive House Institute U.S. - Liaison level

“The benefits of DC power distribution go beyond decreasing energy consumption, reducing labor costs and minimizing business interruptions,” said Brian Patterson, EMerge Alliance chair. “DC microgrids offer a safe, reliable and efficient solution to providing power to commercial buildings and new lighting technologies, which is why we continue to gain support from both business and industry leaders.”

Members at the Governing, Participating, and General levels are participating in the EMerge Alliance Registered product program for the EMerge Alliance Occupied Space Standard, which facilitates DC power distribution in commercial interiors through the integration of interior power, infrastructures, controls and peripherals at the room-level microgrid platform level.

The Alliance is nearing completion of a planned expansion of the EMerge Alliance Registered product program to include products supporting the EMerge Alliance Data/Telecom Center Standard, announced in November 2012. Once this process is completed, products supporting this DC power standard will be eligible to wear the EMerge Alliance Registered product logo.
