In 2013 Turkey's Steel Exports Decreased by 6.3 Percent to 19 Million Mt

According to a report released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), in 2013 Turkey's steel exports decreased by 6.3 percent to 19 million mt, while the value of these exports declined by 7.9 percent to $15.78 billion, both compared to 2012. In the given year, Turkey's billet exports decreased by 47.2 percent year on year to 1.56 million mt, while its slab exports remained unchanged compared to the previous year. In 2013, Turkey's long product exports decreased by 3.3 percent to 11.32 million mt, its steel pipe exports decreased by 3.3 percent to 1.81 million mt, while flat product exports increased by 26.8 percent to 2.35 million mt, all compared to 2012.

Meanwhile, in December last year, Turkey's steel exports decreased by 1.3 percent to 1.66 million mt, valued at $1.38 billion, down 1.6 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the given month, Turkey's billet exports decreased by 48.5 percent to 60,000 mt, while only 24,000 mt of slab exports were recorded. In December last year, flat product exports increased by 5.2 percent to 208,000 mt, long product exports increased by 4.8 percent to 1.07 million mt, but steel pipe exports fell 16.7 percent to 160,000 mt, all compared to December 2012.
