Tiger to Open Four Stores in London and The Southeast in The First Half of The Year

The value retailer offering toys, hobby and games lines plans to open four stores in London and the Southeast in the first half of the year.

Tiger, the Danish value, kids’ toys and hobby retailer, is preparing to open seven new stores across the UK.

The group is expanding with four new stores planned for the South of England and three elsewhere in the UK.

The first swathe of stores are due to open in the first half of 2015.

Tiger offers a range of toys, games and hobbies for children ranging from plush character and puppets to construction sets and outdoor toys and its new UK stores will range between 1,500 sq ft and 3,000 sq ft.

The first will open in St Albans in Hertfordshire, Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, Islington, North London and at the future Crossrail train station at Canary Wharf.

Retail Week reports that Tiger is understood to be preparing to open stores in Bristol, Dundee and Exeter, under different regional management.

Philip Bier, managing director for Tiger Retail, said that his London and South East division was in line for “EBITDA grown of at least 40 per cent on last year.”

“I can’t contain myself with excitement over Christmas,” he added. “It’s been going really well, so far December like-for-likes are very strong.”

The new openings will bring Tiger’s portfolio to around 75 by the end of 2016. It currently stands at 42, 30 of which are in the southeast where it made its debut in 2010.
