Axon to Showcase Shrink Sleeve Labeling Solutions at Expo Pack 2016

Axon, powered by Pro Mach, demonstrates at Expo Pack 2016, May 17-20 in Mexico City, shrink sleeve labeling technology that enables more productive and sustainable packaging operations.

Axon displays the company's most technically advanced shrink sleeve applicator - the Lanzara - and its most cost effective and sustainable steam tunnel - the Thermodash. (Axon Expo Pack Booth # 1704)

Lanzara applies up to 400 sleeves per minute. With the applicator's Smart Speed Control feature, Lanzara can automatically increase or decrease the sleeving rate, matching upstream and downstream line speed without operator involvement for 'set it and forget it' operation. Smart Speed Control ensures optimum productivity, which includes high throughput, maximum uptime, and assured quality.

With the Lanzara Smart Cutting System, Axon has dramatically improved film cutting technology by reducing the number of blade changeovers required by 66 percent when compared to past generation solutions. In addition, Lanzara features a Smart Film Feed System that simplifies film threading and greatly improves the control of the film web as it moves through the machine. Smart Cutting and Smart Film Feed contribute to the productivity on the packaging line.

Every Lanzara comes equipped with the ProTech by Pro Mach system for remote diagnostics and machine monitoring. Remote diagnostics can help shorten repair time to hours or even minutes as compared to waiting for a technician to travel to the machine and offers exceptional benefits in terms of maintaining uptime. Machine monitoring provides real time overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) data. OEE data helps operations personnel to continuously improve throughput. Furthermore, replacement parts and many after sales support services are forward deployed to the Pro Mach Shared Services facility in Monterrey, Mexico.

Thermodash steam tunnel for more sustainable operations

The Thermodash steam tunnel can operate at up to 100 containers per minute and provides for cost effective and sustainable operation. Thermodash runs on as little as four kilowatts (kW) of electricity and three gallons of water per hour. Axon engineers calculate that energy bills can be reduced by more than 80 percent and water consumption lowered by more than 60 percent when compared to 30 kW/10 gallons per hour steam tunnels in the same production range. Thermodash features stainless steel double wall construction for years of reliable and safe operation.
