Seoul Semiconductor(Ssc) Has Announced The Completion of Its Installation of Acrich LED

Seoul Semiconductor(SSC) has announced the completion of its installation of Acrich LED streetlights covering a section of 30km on Yang-zi River road in Yangzhou city. The company contends that Acrich LED streetlights, were chosen for the project in the city because they minimize the payback period within three years. The company says that this reduced payback period is because the cost of installation and maintenance are dramatically reduced. Seoul Semiconductor also asserts that Acrich streetlight is brighter and lighter than conventional DC LED streetlights.

The Acrich 2 module is composed of MJT 4040 packages. Multi Junction Technology is applied and Acrich IC replaces an AC/DC converter weighing almost 4kg. An AC/DC converter is essential for conventional DC LED module. The company says that the Acrich2 module enables lighting manufacturers to save time and cost to design the luminaries. The module raises the power factor up to 0.99 and offers a luminous efficiency of 100lm/W. Seoul Semiconductor notes that in addition to having a lifetime as long as 50,000 hours, the AC/DC converter is not necessary so it does not malfunction or reduce the lifetime of the streetlights.

Jae-bin Choi, the head of lighting division of Seoul Semiconductor mentioned that Acrich LED which had previously been used for the indoor lighting started to apply to the streetlights which is one of outdoor lightings, after China’s recognition of its high confidence and long life span as well as high output and efficiency, and now other cities, in turn, are establishing Acrich LED streetlights and tunnel illumination in their streets.
