Closure Systems International (CSI) Has Introduced Its New Flex-Chuck

Closure Systems International (CSI) has introduced its new Flex-Chuck, which is said save save bottlers time and money by reducing inventory and solving various application issues.

The Flex-Chuck design uses an internal array of multiple and independent grippers and adapts to a range of knurl patterns and varying closure dimensional tolerances instantly.

According to the company, the new Flex-Chuck decreases capping chuck inventory requirements and cuts down the need for time-consuming changeovers.

CSI sales engineer Jack Petersen said maintenance costs related to chucks have been expected to be reduced by 50%.

"Another benefit of the Flex-Chuck design is that they clearly outperform all standard chucks when applying linerless water and CSD closures with a plug-seal design," Petersen added.

CSI claims that after more than a full year of non-stop use the hardened steel grippers have shown no signs of wear.

In addition to the 28mm size, the company is in the process of developing larger diameter Flex-Chucks in variants of 33mm, 38mm and 43mm.
