Loma,Which Is Owned by US Company ITW,Acquired Lock Creating a $85m Turnover Company

Inspection equipment firms Loma Systems and Lock Inspection Systems have outlined their strategy after officially unveiling the partnership at the Total Processing and Packaging show

Loma, which is owned by US company ITW, acquired Lock creating a $85m turnover company with a global workforce of 500. Loma’s focus is on the food industry while Lock manufacturers inspection kit in the pharmaceutical sector.

“This move takes us to the next level,” said Hitesh Hirani, group technical manager at Lock. “We were privately owned and doing ok but we wanted to do something special – we either needed to invest or look for a partner. We found Loma.”

Tony Bryant, Loma Systems UK sales manager added: “We used the PPMA show as a platform to launch. Lock has pharmaceutical experience and we felt we could share our resources to create better products.”

At the Total show, Lock debuted its latest addition to the Insight range. The PH Pharmaceutical system can inspect up to 30,000 tablets per minute. Also on show was the new Loma X4 x-ray, which has been designed to match any line speed. It automatically detects contaminants including metals, bone, glass, PVC, stone and rubber.
