Having been unveiled alongside the iPhone 6 and oversized iPhone 6 Plus last September, the Asus ZenWatch rival's slow crawl to market has been exacerbated by a throng of titillating Apple Watch rumours. This looks set to be rectified in the coming days, however, with rumours hitting fever pitch.
Most recently, it has been suggested Apple dropped a number of planned features from its wearble prior to launch due to mounting production challenges. In further damning claims, it has been reported the Watch will only squeeze a meagre 2.5 hours of life out of a single battery charge - hardly ideal.
These questions, and many more, still surrounding the device will soon be answered, however. Apple has revealed it will hold an Apple Watch themed launch event on March 9, with the wearable's ins and outs expected to be covered off.
What we already know, is that Apple Watch prices will start at a lofty $349 (£226). There will be a staggering 34 different configurations of the techy timepiece available at launch, however, meaning prices could sky rocket.
The device features a custom-built UI that proffers a host of wrist-borne apps, as well as a pressure-sensitive touchscreen, 'taptic' haptic feedback, and the Digital Crown - Apple's wristwatch-inspired winder input.
The smartwatch will come up against tough competition when it lands, facing off with the existing raft of wearable Android fare like the Moto 360, the LG G Watch R, and the Samsung Gear S.
Despite just 720,000 Android Wear devices having been sold through the entirety of 2014, latest estimates tip the smartwatch to tout first year sales figures somewhere in the region of 20-30 million with Apple rumoured to have anywhere up to 40 million units ordered in time for day one.
