Barry-Wehmiller Acquires Packaging Technology for The Fresh Dairy and Food Industry

Barry-Wehmiller has acquired Arcil, a Paris-based supplier of packaging technology for the fresh dairy and food industry, for an undisclosed sum.

The transaction is said to be Barry-Wehmiller's first within France and is expected to expand its packaging platform to six separate operating companies, while increasing its capital equipment.

With the integration and organic growth initiatives, the US-based firm expects to generate revenues of about $1.7bn in 2014 and have revenues of over $2bn by next two years.

Barry-Wehmiller CEO Bob Chapman said Arcil's expertise in providing efficient packaging solutions is complementary to the company's diverse portfolio of packaging companies.

"Their technological leadership and leading market position extend our capabilities in the global fresh dairy market," Chapman added.

Arcil supplies form-fill-seal (FFS) technology for machines, which use heat to convert plastic film into custom-formed cups for the fresh dairy and food industry that are filled then sealed.

In 2013, Arcil has reported revenues of $120m. The company employs about 350 people across its two Paris operations.
