About 30% of The Country's PV Power-Generation Systems Show Various Problems Three Years

A China government-sponsored certification organization has found that about 30% of the country's PV power-generation systems show various problems three years or more after installation, especially in module quality, according to PV industry sources in Taiwan

The China General Certification Center (CGCC) has come to the conclusion after investigating 425 PV power-generating stations and rooftop systems in the country, the sources said.

For some systems installed only three years ago, the PV modules' power generating capacity has decreased by over 68%, according to CGCC. If the modules' capacity decreases by over 5% a year, the system made up by them will have to be abandoned after five years.

The China government has offered considerably high feed-in tariff rates to boost PV power generation, with some of such subsidies granted before installation begins.

Some EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) contractors are perfunctory in construction or dishonest by using inferior PV modules or materials, and some investors do not have enough know-how to check the construction, resulting in bad quality of the systems, the sources cited China-based media reports as indicating.
