Images of The Facelifted BMW M5 Have Been Leaked Before The Car'S Upcoming Debut This Year

Images of the facelifted BMW M5 have been leaked ahead of the car’s upcoming debut later this year, giving us our first undisguised look at the mild update.

Published accidently onto the German manufacturer’s local website configurator, the images of the new BMW M5 show a revised grille – borrowed from the BMW M6 – with larger vertical kidney slats, new headlights and tweaked tail-lights.Both front and rear bumpers also appear to be slightly altered.

The interior changes too remain subtle with a slimmer steering wheel and a new touch-sensitive pad for the iDrive navigation controller.

Caught recently by CarAdvice’s spy photographers at the Nurburgring, the new luxury performance sedan is expected to keep the current car’s 412kW/680Nm twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 powerplant but rumours of an optional Competition Pack suggest that more power, sportier suspension, a revised M Dynamic Mode and unique 20-inch alloy wheels could also be available.

The entire BMW 5 Series range is due to receive updates early in the third quarter of this year, but the M5 could reach local showrooms as early as the fourth quarter.

Pricing for the current BMW M5 starts at $230,000.
