Aquilion Large Bore CT System Was Announced by Toshiba

Medical imaging technology company Toshiba America Medical Systems has announced that it will launch its Aquilion large bore CT system at American Society of Radiation Oncology annual meeting in Atlanta.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Aquilion large bore CT system is available in two configurations, one for radiology and bariatric imaging, the other for oncology planning.

Aquilion CT system has a bore size of 90cm, field of view of 70cm, optional extended field of view of 85cm and an optional high-capacity couch of 660lb, and produces high-quality images for accurate diagnoses with 16 detector rows capable of reconstructing 32 slices per rotation.

The system features Toshiba's adaptive iterative dose reduction 3D that will reduce radiation dose when compared with conventional scanning.

Toshiba CT business unit senior director Satrajit Misra noted with advanced dose reduction, the Aquilion large bore is ideally suited to handle mainstream radiology imaging, along with oncology planning and CT interventions.

"The two configurations meet diverse clinical needs, helping hospitals maximize resources with more efficient patient care," Misra added.
