Roselabs Bioscience Holded Negotiations for Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Companies

Roselabs Bioscience, a manufacturer of pre-filled syringes (PFS) based in Ahmedabad, India, is holding negotiations for supply arrangements with a few pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies such as Dr Reddy's Laboratories.

The PFS maker intends to offer them contract-based manufacturing services, reports The Economic Times

Roselabs is claimed to be the seventh leading manufacturer of pre-filled syringes, following Becton, Dickinson and Co, Nipro, Stevanto, Schott, Weigao and Gerresheimer.

Roselabs managing director Zemeer Agarwal was quoted by the publication as saying that out of the 32 firms in India that have drug filling facilities for syringes, six are based in Hyderabad alone and the firm has partnered with 12 firms such as BDR, Cadila and Lincoln Pharma so far.

"We offer the products 15-20% cheaper and upto four months in advance compared to the imported PFS both in glass and polymer," said Agarwal.

Established at a cost of INR4bn ($67m), the Roselabs' facility at Ahmedabad started operations in November 2012 and has a production capacity of 800,000 PFS each day.

Presently, 95% of the PFS in India is being imported.
