Rovese, a major sanitaryware accessories groupm, has installed and commissioned a new automatic line for the application of fibreglass on thermoformed pieces at its Cersanit plant near Moscow, Russua.

A key global player in the ceramic sanitaryware sector, the Rovese Group has again gone for the proven reliability of Sacmi-Gaiotto industrial automation solutions. This innovative automatic system for the application of fibreglass reinforcements on thermoformed pieces has already been successfully installed and started up at the Cersanit plant in Russia (the Rovese Group’s Cersanit brand has several facilities, including this one in the Moscow region).

The solution consists of a 35-step truck conveyor designed to carry out piece handling. Pieces then transit through 4 booths, two dedicated to the spraying and two the rolling of the fibreglass. Equipped with mobile guards, the downstream piece polymerisation dryer completes the plant.

Designed and started up in 2015, the new Cersanit plant reinforces a partnership between Sacmi and the Rovese Group that goes back to 2003 when the first manual system for the spraying of fibreglass on bathtubs and shower trays was installed at their Polish plant. During the design of this latest technological upgrade, that ‘sister plant’, built in 2003, was used as a partial template in order to maintain the same solidity and long-last reliability, characteristics that, together with process automation, have always been the defining features of every Sacmi-Gaiotto solution.
