Swisstex Printers, a subsidiary of clothing labels manufacturer Swiss Tex Group, is investing in a new KBA Rapida 105 six-colour press that will be installed in Bangladesh.

The press that comes with inline coating facilities will commence operations in spring 2016.

KBA-Sheetfed Solutions in Germany has configured the press for both conventional and UV production.

The press features CleanTronic Impact washing systems, an emission extraction system, three UV interdeck dryers, VariDryBlue dryers (IR/hot air/UV) in the triple-length extended delivery and the density measuring system ErgoTronic ColorDrive.

KBA said that the press has been raised by 450mm to enable higher sheet piles and incorporates both a CX accessory package for board handling and provisions for mixed operation with conventional and UV inks and coatings.

Said to be the first UV sheetfed offset press in Bangladesh, the new press will allow the company to print on plastic films for transparent packaging of appropriate clothing items.

With 11 single- and multi-colour sheetfed offset presses, Swisstex Printers currently produces tags and labels using various technologies.

The company also offers print products such as photo cards and packaging for the clothing industry. Its clients include Marks & Spencer, Mango, H&M, Khappahl or Varner.

In addition to this Rapida 105, KBA is also installing two half-format Rapida 75 presses and a further Rapida 105 in the country this year.
