Switzerland-based Permapack has deployed Esko’s WebCenter and Automation Engine to enhance process management in packaging production.

It allows printing professionals to address the daily challenges by improving the quality, reducing the likelihood of errors and process costs. It can be incorporated into any business system.

WebCenter is a web-based platform for packaging management that can handle all work processes, packaging specifications, approval cycles, text contents and digital resources.
It helps users to manage their projects reliably, as well as check, comment on and approve documents.
In addition, the platform enables in saving project’s packaging objects such as graphics, print templates, logos, images, 3D drafts with finishing effects and other packaging elements in a database and insert into the layout.
JDF-based integration with an ERP/MIS trade software solution Theurer C3 aggregates all work processes from the customer to sales through to production in a comprehensive process management solution.
In-house print shop, which includes seven conventional printing units and HP Indigo’s two digital printing systems, will produce labels, tubular laminates, sachets, bags, films and wrap-around labels.
Permapack flexible packaging managing director Markus Wirth said: "We were looking for a solution to cope with the rapid growth in the number of smaller, shorter run jobs being produced with the digital printing technologies we invested in last year.
“As we had been using ArtPro, Nexus and a CDI Spark 4835 platesetter with inline UV for some time, augmenting our infrastructure with a solution from Esko was virtually automatic.”
