Recipharm Plans to Increases Blow Fill Seal Capacity at Kaysersberg Site in France

Swedish contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) Recipharm plans to invest €18m to boost its blow fill seal (BFS) capacity at its site in Kaysersberg, France.

As part of the investment plan, a new blow fill seal high speed filling and packaging line is planned to be installed at the site to increase the total number of lines to eight.

In order to increase blow fill seal capacity by 50%, Recipharm also plans to install three additional filling lines over the coming years at the Kaysersberg sterile facility, which is specialized in blow fill seal technology for sterile liquids.

Recipharm Kaysersberg site general manager Yves Buelens said: "The increased capacity will position us well for future growth and allow us to take on new projects from new customers more swiftly.

"With the site's big pharma heritage, we are ideally placed to meet the highest quality and regulatory requirements and are committed to investing in the facility to ensure we can continue to deliver the best possible service."

The company expects the addition of the new lines to more than double the size of its operations from 2,000m2 to 4,150m2.

The filling lines will allow Recipharm to provide aseptic processing of sterile liquids including eye care and ear drops into plastic containers for drug developers.

In addition to manufacturing single dose units, the Kaysersberg site features an advanced aseptic process for sterile liquid packaging applications in plastic containers.

The site is accredited according to the environmental management system ISO 14001 and the occupational health and safety management system OHSAS 18001.
