Everlight Electronics Will Expand Its Monthly EMC Packaging Capacity to 100 Million Units

LED packaging house Everlight Electronics will expand its monthly EMC (epoxy molding compound) packaging capacity from 60 million units currently to 100 million units in 2014, according to the company.

EMC-packaged LEDs are currently mainly used in direct-type LCD TVs and Everlight has obtained orders from China-based vendors, the company indicated. EMC-packaged LEDs can be used in LED lighting as well, such as codes 3020, 3030 and 3535, Everlight pointed out.

Everligtht generated consolidated revenues of NT$7.01 billion (US$235 million) for the third quarter of 2013, increasing on quarter by 17.42%. Due to decreasing demand for LCD TV backlight units, Everlight expects its consolidated revenues for the fourth quarter to drop sequentially by less than 10%, the company noted.

The proportion of consolidated revenues from LED lighting is expected to rise to 25% at the end of 2013 mainly due to contribution from Germany-based LED lighting vendor WOFI Leuchten acquired in mid-2013, Everlight indicated. Everlight is expanding a retail chain for its own-brand LED lighting products in the China market.

In addition to backlight and lighting, Everlight has supplied LEDs used in camera flashes to China-, Taiwan-, US-, Europe- and Japan-based smartphone and tablet vendors.
