Cadillac Is Going to Become a Separate Business Unit of General Motors

Cadillac is going to become a separate business unit of General Motors, with a new global headquarters in Manhattan, New York, which will open in 2015.

The new Cadillac business unit will aim at finding and utilizing growing opportunities in the luxury automotive market.

The New York headquarters will oversee both global and US operations but the technical product development teams will be located Michigan and there will not be any change in other manufacturing or assembly operations.

Cadillac management will move some of its staffs to New York which will be headed by Johan de Nysschen, and the rest of the staff will remain in current locations in Detroit-area and other GM offices.

Cadillac operates in more than 40 countries, and the company saw 28% global growth in 2013, with an increase of about 10% till now this year.

General Motors president Dan Ammann said: "With the relentless upward repositioning of successive new-generation Cadillac products, the next logical step is to provide Cadillac more freedom to cultivate the brand in pursuit of further global growth."

"Cadillac's mission is to reinstate the brand to a pre-eminent position among global luxury brands, a bold challenge requiring a distinct and focused new organization."

"More than a division or brand, Cadillac is becoming a center of excellence for our company."
